The verdict for a first step

Higher Mama-Match Score: Sesame

Sesame edges out Hers on the Mama-Match Score, 83 to 82 (B vs B−). Moms who'd rather have FDA-approved brand-name medication and a real clinical visit than the lowest compounded price, and who don't mind separate subscription and medication bills.

Hers is still a genuine option — ⛔ Its company carries an FDA warning letter (#716825, Sept. 2025). It sells FDA-approved brand, but the posted price leaves out a $149/mo membership. Weigh the six first-timer factors below against your own priorities.

Mama-Match

Hers

Rank #13 · Grade B−

What we like

  • Now sells FDA-approved brand medication (Wegovy, Zepbound) instead of compounded semaglutide
  • An explicitly women-focused brand that many moms already recognize and trust
  • Nationwide, with a very smooth app-guided signup and an oral/sublingual option

The caveats

  • ⛔ FDA warning letter #716825, dated September 9, 2025, to Hims & Hers Health, Inc. dba Hers — its sister brand, Hims, got its own the same day (#716567)
  • The 'from $149/mo' price is medication only — a separate $149/mo membership (billed apart, $39 the first month) nearly doubles the real ongoing cost
  • Less emphasis on labs and metabolic detail behind the polished brand

Mama-Match

Sesame

Rank #7 · Grade B

What we like

  • A real video visit with a licensed clinician, plus labs and messaging in the subscription
  • FDA-approved brand-name options (Wegovy pill, Ozempic, Zepbound) with the manufacturer's own label
  • Transparent cash-pay marketplace pricing — no insurance needed, HSA/FSA commonly accepted

The caveats

  • No longer offers low-cost compounded GLP-1s — it exited that market in 2025
  • The subscription and the medication are billed separately, so the true monthly cost is higher than the headline
  • Brand-name medication runs $149–$499/mo, well above the flat compounded programs
